英语中would的用法？

“Would”: How to Use It“Would” is a Modal Verb and it's followed by a Verb in its base form (原形动词).

1. Conditional Sentence

a. Improbable situationsExample: If I were you, I would dump that girlfriend of yours like a ton of bricks.

b. Past Hypothetical situationExample: If you had been on time to the banquet, your sister wouldn’t have been mad at you.

Use of “would be”

a. “would be” + Present Participle (‘ing)to describe an existing conditionExample: You would be laughing all the way to the bank had you invested in the stock I told you.

b. “would be” + AdjectiveExample: You would be rich had you invested in the stock I told you.

c. “would be” + Noun/Noun PhraseExample: You would be a rich man had you invested in the stock I told you.

(Note: “Would be” is also used in giving opinions as in #6 below).

2. Imaginary SituationExample: You would look better with short hair.

3. Request or ProposalRequest Example: Would you please come in?Proposal Example: Would you like to have another bowl of rice?

4. Past Incidents
